The official website for Hideaki Anno and Khara's four-film remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series revealed on Sunday that five theaters across Japan will screen a "TV version" of Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance at the same time as the film airs on television on Friday, August 26.
The film will screen at Sapporo Cinema Frontier in Hokkaido, Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo, Umeda Burg 7 in Osaka, TOHO Cinemas Nagoya Bay City, and T-Joy Hakata in Fukuoka.
Fans can purchase tickets to the event in two ways: enter a lottery through the LAWSON Ticket website between August 1 - August 10, or purchase tickets on the same website starting August 20. Tickets cost 1,000 yen each (about US$12.80).
Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance originally opened in Japanese theaters in June 2009 and was released on DVD and Blu-ray in May 2010. The film screened in American theaters in January and FUNimation Entertainment released the film on DVD and Blu-ray in North America in March.
