This year's 15th issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine is announcing on Thursday that a live-action television series adaptation of Sayaka Yamazaki's Shima Shima manga has been green-lit. The series will premiere on Aprill 22 on the TBS network during the late-night drama series timeslot, "Friday Break."
Shima Shima ran in Morning until last September. The story revolves around the Stripe Sheep "sleep-beside-you store" — a business that dispatches men to sleep beside insonmiac women. It follows the relationships between the store representative Shio, the clients, and the four men who work there. All 12 volumes of the manga are now on sale.
In the live-action version, Shio will be played by 32-year-old actress Akiko Yada, and the store employee Gai will be played by 22-year-old Shōhei Miura. It has been six years since Yada starred in an over-the-air television series (2005's Yume de Aimashō). In the current issue of Morning, the two actors gave comments about Shima Shima.
