The VAP production company has begun streaming a one-minute trailer for the video anime adaptation of Masami Kurumada and Shiori Teshirogi's Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa manga. The mythical action manga's story is set in the middle of the 18th century, 243 years before the first Saint Seiya storyline. Artist Teshirogi focuses The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa on the friendship of Tenma and Alone — the previous incarnations of the characters Pegasus Seiya and Hades who would become mortal enemies in the original Saint Seiya. The first two-episode volume will ship on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in Japan on June 24, and the VAP's website added a text description of the first episode, "Yakusoku" ("Promise").
Viz Media has been publishing the original 1986-1990 Saint Seiya manga in North America. DiC Entertainment adapted the 1986-1989 television anime series as Knights of the Zodiac, and ADV Films released the anime in both its original unedited form and with DIC's television edits.
