The Moon Phase Comments blog reports that the April issue of Kodansha's Afternoon magazine will announce on Wednesday that Mami Kashiwabara's Sora no Manimani school romantic comedy manga will have a television anime. The production is said to be green-lit for this summer. Shinji Takamatsu (Gintama, School Rumble) will reportedly direct the animators at Studio Comet. Hajime Watanabe (Hime-chan's Ribbon, Kodocha, School Rumble) will create the character designs and supervise the animation production. The website for the project will open on Wednesday.
In the story, Saku Ōyagi is a quiet bookworm who moves back his former hometown as a high school freshman. He meets his childhood friend, Mihoshi Akeno, again, although an traumatic incident long ago had left their relationship in a awkward state of dread and high tension. However, Mihoshi brings Saku into the astronomy club she founded, and this sets the stage for the slapstick romantic comedy that ensues.
